Fiat Chrysler Recalls Trucks With Air Bag Woes
Fiat Chysler is recalling nearly two million trucks. It has recalled about 12 million vehicles in the U.S. this year.
Fiat Chrysler is launching three recalls affecting nearly two million trucks.
The vast majority of the recalls involve trucks that could have a wiring problem that causes a short circuit and makes the vehicle’s air bags suddenly deploy, whether or not it is involved in a crash.
The trucks being recalled include Ram 1500, 2500 and 3500 pickups and 3500, 4500 and 5500 Chassis Cabs from the model years 2012, 2013 and 2014.
The automaker says two injuries have been tied to the problem.
Fiat Chrysler is also recalling some 2013 and 2014 model Ram and Chassis Cab pickups which could develop steering problems, as well as 2014 and 2015 model Ram Quad Cab pickups that could have issues with the side curtain air bags.
Fiat Chrysler has recalled about 12 million vehicles sold in the U.S. alone this year. The automaker entered into a three-year consent agreement with the federal government this summer and agreed to pay a more than $100 million penalty over concerns that the company failed to properly carry out about two dozen recalls.
