Rep. Kildee Co-Sponsors Ban on LGBT Discrimination [Read Bill]

New House bill would add civil rights protections covering sexual orientation and gender identity

US Capitol

Congressman Dan Kildee (D-Flint) has co-sponsored legislation to protect the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender Americans. Kildee says the Equality Act would amend the Civil Rights Act of 1964 to ban discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity. Kildee tells WDET’s Pat Batcheller those should not be reasons to fire people from a job or deny them housing. He says the bill has more than 150 co-sponsors in the U.S. House
