Dissolve” by Jon Zott remix of the song by Absofacto

Michigan musicians Jonathan Visger makes brilliant, modern and moody electro-pop under the name Absofacto and his 2015 break-out hit “Dissolve” is a must listen. Here, producer Jon Zott of Detroit gives it the housey remix treatment it well deserves. Snag that!

This Week’s Calendar

Concert of Colors Tune-Up Concert hosted by WDET’s Ismael Ahmed @ New Center Park  | Saturday, July 4th

Don Was and the boys are back for another rendition of what’s one of the most musically eclectic offerings the Midwest has to offer, Detroit’s Concert of Colors. Starting on Saturday at New Center Park, bands from around the region join musical acts from around the globe for a weeklong onslaught of world music, including plenty of Detroit rock and soul.

5th Annual Rock ‘n’ Roll Pig Roast @ Nancy Whiskey’s | Saturday, July 4th

Rock al fresco! Boston rockers The Kominas from and Sewers from down under are joining a bonanza bill of Motor City rockers, including mainstays Easy Action, as well as freshly baked acts such as Deadly Vipers, James Linck, Prude Boys, Detroit 442, and the ever incredible psychedelic outfit Moonwalks.

DJ Assault & DJ Funk @ Grasshopper Underground | Saturday, July 4th

This Independence Day you have the freedom to shake it fast, but watch yourself, shake it fast, show ‘em what you’re workin’ with … at 156 beats-per-minute with these ghetto-tech gawds!

Brightmoor Farmers Market Grand Opening @ Brightmoor Artisans Cooperative & Community Kitchen | Friday, July 3rd

Big things, healthy things, community-minded things, yummy things are happening in Brightmoor! Wait till you get a load of that lettuce! For real.

Brian Wilson wsg Rodriguez @ Fox Theatre | Sunday, July 5th

God only knows how much we love the music Beach Boy maestro Brian Wilson has made throughout the course of his life. The pop genius comes to Detroit, and he’s on tour with a son of the city, Detroit’s man in black, the most mellow folk-rock fellow this side of the Rio Grande, Rodriguez.

Future @ Chene Park | Friday July 3rd @ 8 PM

Co-signed by Outkast’s Andre 3000, Future brings a hip-hop style that’s soaked in the South but without the trappings of the trap house soundtrack we’re tiring of. It’s rap music for me and you, your mama and your cousin, too.

Ann Arbor Summer Festival @ Multiple A2 venues | Saturday and Sunday

Here are some highlights if you’re in or headed to Ann Arbor. Check it out. Friday: Jennifer Westwood & the Handsome Devils

SATURDAY:  Lady Sunshine & The X Band

SUNDAY: The United States Army Field Band & Soldiers Chorus, then watch “Back to the Future” at 10 PM

Oakland County Fair | July 3rd – 12th

Oakland County is gettin’ down in Davisburg!
