Metro Detroiters have a new chance to put healthy food on the table. It’s the start of the season for the Northwest Detroit Farmer’s Market, and this year marks a milestone. Officials are celebrating 10 years of providing fresh produce to the Grandmont-Rosedale community, but spokesperson Amy Nelms says the market offers much more than just food.

“We have free health screenings, we have an artists market with local Detroit artists, we have, starting in June, a Meet Up and Eat Up site where kids can get a free meal for just coming to the market.

Nelms says the market also participates in a number of food assistance programs. The Northwest Detroit Farmer’s Market is open every Thursday through October.
