Feds Could Make FCA Buy Back or Replace Recalled Vehicles

NHTSA plans public hearing on pace of FCA recalls.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration ordered Fiat Chrysler to update the government on the status of several safety recalls involving its vehicles. The agency will hold a public hearing this summer to determine if the automaker is dragging its feet on fixing various defects. AutoTrader senior analyst Michelle Krebs tells WDET’s Pat Batcheller regulators are frustrated with the company’s efforts to repair 1.5-million Jeeps with fuel tanks mounted behind the rear axles.
