Motor City Makeover to Begin Saturday
Detroit is looking for volunteers for spring cleaning
Detroit officials say it’s time for spring-cleaning. The first three Saturdays in May will mark the beginning of Detroit’s annual “Motor City Makeover” beautification effort. The General Manager of the city’s Department of Neighborhoods Vicky Kovari says groups will start focusing on neighborhoods like Brightmoor and Grandmont-Rosedale.
“We have about 1,200 volunteers total already registered for just District 1, so we have community groups all over Northwest Detroit that are going to be participating.”

Kovari says the city will provide bags and gloves to those who register for the effort. She says nearly 190 tons of garbage was picked up last year.
