The DIA’s Inside|Out Program is Expanding to Grand Haven and Bay City

The DIA is installing replicas of its collection in Grand Haven and Bay City.

Replicas of some of the Detroit Institute of Art’s famous works are taking a tour of Michigan this summer. Museum officials are installing reproductions around sites in Grand Haven and Bay City this year. DIA spokesperson Kathryn Diamond says the museum’s  Inside|Out program works to bring art to surprising places.

“You stumble upon these works of art in unique places, you know, outdoors in these outdoor galleries, and so they do remind us of the amazing collection that we have here at the DIA and have sort of peaked people’s interest to come down and check them out.”

Diamond says the DIA has been placing art around the tri-county area since 2010. She says officials are installing the pieces next month in Grand Haven and Bay City. They’ll be ready for viewing by June 1.
