When you mix technology and Detroit based business…you get Techweek DetroitTechweek Detroit has returned to the Motor City. The seven-day event is geared toward gathering “a mixture of entrepreneurs, visionaries, and thought leaders.” Businesses locally and nationally have joined together to showcase how much of an impact the start-up community has. This is Techweek’s second time being in Detroit. Business that were there included Quicken Loans, TechTown Detroit, and Bizdom. Throughout the week there was a wearable fashion show, a job fair, and a startup competition where businesses competed for an award of $50,000 dollars.

WDET’s Ron Lyons Jr speaks with Brian Bosche, CEO and co-founder of Slope, a media collaboration program. He says tech is playing a huge role in Detroit’s comeback.

“These are middle schoolers, and none of these kids have really been exposed to technology at all, and even when we went around in a circle in what their favorite business were one said Google and all other kids shouted in Google’s not a business Google’s a website so just that understanding exposure they didn’t have that.” says Bosche

Bosche says if technology growth continues in Detroit more companies will come to the city.
