A new company will be helping to keep Detroit’s downtown clean this summer. The national organization Block by Block will continue the Downtown Detroit Partnership’s Clean Detroit initiative. The company will also run an ambassador program for city visitors. Partnership CEO Eric Larson says the program is designed to help guide people unfamiliar with the area.

“A number of folks that will be trained literally will be welcome ambassadors. So you will be able to walk up to them, anyone will be able to walk up, and if they have a question as to where they are or where something is within the downtown or how to get some help for a flat tire, the people will be equipped and knowledgeable in being able to assist.”

Larson says Block by Block will continue Clean Detroit’s practice of hiring city residents who have had a hard time finding a job.  He says the company will officially start work in June.
