U-M Offers Leadership training to DPS

The University of Michigan will provide leadership training to Detroit Public Schools select staff.

Classroom Raised Hand

The University of Michigan School of Business is offering to train select Detroit Public Schools staff and administrators.

University teachers will help participants improve their leadership skills, academic performance, and safety.

University of Michigan Professor Kim Cameron, who is leading the effort, says the program will be tailored to the needs of Detroit School leaders.

“One of the things we could do is to simple say we think we have some answers, we’re not sure what your questions are but we are going to super impose our answers on your system. We will not do that,” Cameron says.

Detroit Public Schools Emergency Manager Darnell Early will choose who take part in the training sessions.
