Increased Speed Limit Part of Ohio’s Proposed Transportation Budget

Motorists traveling on Ohio highways could soon be able to drive at speeds topping 75MPH

The proposal to raise the state speed limit is one part of a two-year, $7-billion transportation budget that was approved unanimously by the Ohio Senate. This is the second time in two years that the state legislature has voted to increase the speed limit. It would affect all motorists traveling through the state—including those in larger vehicles, like trucks and buses. Not all state lawmakers are on board with the potential speed change, however. State House Speaker Cliff Rosenberger questions whether it’s too soon to raise the speed limit on interstates again. The bill heads to a conference committee of the Senate and House for negotiations over the provisions.  A transportation budget must reach Governor John Kasich’s desk by April 1st.
