Jeremy Piven, Trying Something New, Brings Stand-Up Act to Detroit
The “Entourage” star already has a Golden Globe, so what was next for his decades-long career? Stand-up comedy, says Piven ahead of his show on Friday night at the Majestic Theatre.
Jeremy Piven started out as a stage actor at Second City in Chicago before he headed to Los Angeles, landing his first big role on the now-iconic “The Larry Sanders Show” on HBO in the 1990s.
From there, he’s stayed busy with a bevy of roles from his best-known portrayal as foul-mouthed Hollywood agent Ari Gold on “Entourage” to appearing in more than 70 films over the past three decades from “Old School” to “Grosse Pointe Blank.”
For the past two years, however, Piven has been focusing on stand-up comedy — a last frontier in a career that has dabbled in just about everything, says Piven.
“You reach a certain age and you go, ‘what haven’t I done?'” says Piven, who started out at Second City in Chicago. “I want to write my own story and now I found an arena to do that.”
