Student Admits Placing Noose in Royal Oak Middle School Bathroom
Superintendent Shawn Lewis-Lakin says the student has been removed from Royal Oak Middle School “until further notice.”
The superintendent of the Royal Oak school district says a student has admitted to placing a noose in the boys’ bathroom.
Superintendent Shawn Lewis-Lakin says the student has been removed from Royal Oak Middle School “until further notice.” He says police are investigating.
The noose was found Friday.
It’s the same school where a group of students shouted “build the wall,” the day after Donald Trump was elected president. The chant was an apparent reference to Trump’s call for a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border. Video of the November 9th chant in the cafeteria was widely viewed on social media.
In a statement Sunday, the superintendent says he will meet with students to reinforce “strict policies on intimidation, threats, harassment and bullying.”
