Hailing from Detroit’s east side, Waajeed is a legendary DJ and producer who has been constantly shape-shifting to inspire the spirit of his people. A founding member of Slum Village and Platinum Pied Pipers, his over twenty year career has found him collaborating with musicians from all over the spectrum of sound. His main mission is authenticity, embodied by his label Dirt Tech Reck. At the same time, he is working to build out the Underground Music Academy a school championing artistic independence, autonomy, and collective art making to foster multi-generational skill-sharing for Detroit musicians.
