Truck Fire Closes Ambassador Bridge
After a pick-up’s trailer caught fire, the Ambassador Bridge closed to traffic for about an hour.
A fire closed the Ambassador Bridge for about an hour this afternoon. A trailer pulled by a pick-up truck caught fire while traveling from Detroit to Windsor. Bridge spokesperson Mickey Blashfield says he doesn’t expect the accident to leave any lasting damages to the structure.
“We’re moving up our annual inspection of the bridge ahead of schedule, although this appears to be a fairly minor surface event. It was on top of the bridge, so the heat rises. There’s very little chance of any problems.”

Blashfield says the trailer was destroyed, but he believes the truck is still intact. He says investigators are not sure of what caused the fire.
