Privilege is a word that seems to make a lot of people uncomfortable these days. But it’s a word that carries a lot of weight in the discussion about our personal responsibilities as members of society. Especially toward people who face systematic oppression throughout their lives.
We often talk about racial privilege. But with so much focus lately on Harvey Weinstein, his accusers, and the resulting movements to create awareness about sexual violence and harassment, we’ve also been talking a lot about gender-related privilege.

“It’s about this sense of entitlement that men have to use and abuse and get what they want,” says Wallis. “There’s a toxic kind of masculinity that’s behind all this.”
