DDOT Makes Changes to Reduced Fare Card
The reduced fare card will now expire in 4 years.
The Detroit Department of Transportation is making changes to its Reduced Fare Program for seniors and disabled customers.
Starting Saturday, seniors will only have to renew their reduced fare cards every four years.
DDOT Director Dan Dirks says there was a big demand for the extension.
“They voice frustration in having to get that reduced fare pass done every two years. And that seems like a longer amount of time, but when you have to go through the paperwork, it didn’t make sense,” Dirks said.
Dirks says other changes to fare cards include disabled passengers being able to renew without medical verification.
He says riders can also use DDOT reduced fare cards on certain SMART buses.
