(Single) Ticket to Ride
Mayor Duggan says a shared fare card for more transit in Detroit would help riders. He plans development of a system.
One card that riders could use for fares on buses, bike sharing or with private, on-demand car services could help people get around Detroit, says Mayor Mike Duggan.
More Detroiters are using multiple modes of transportation, he says, and a shared payment system would make riding easier.
“You’ve got the People Mover, you’ve got Uber, you’ve got Lyft, you’ve got cabs, you’ve got ride share,” he says. “People moving from place to place a lot of times crosses different forms of transportation.”
The technology exists, he says, but the city needs to develop it for Detroit. Duggan expects that to happen within the next three years.
