Beyonce Cowboy Carter album cover.

Beyoncé's "Cowboy Carter"

This week on Rob Reinhart’s Essential Music, I’m looking at the first half of 2024, with cool new stuff from Mavis Staples, Savanna Funk, and of course, that Beyoncé country-ish album, Cowboy Carter!

Plus, Detroit artists brought out cool stuff in the first half of this year, including Extra Arms, new singles from Apropos and (finally) a new album from Frontier Rucks.

There’s also a legendary artist who celebrated his 80th this week, so we’ll note that as well.

See the playlist below and listen to the episode for two weeks after it airs.
