I-275 Rebuild Is Almost Finished
MDOT says it hopes to reopen northbound lanes before Labor Day.
One of the biggest road construction projects of 2016 is almost finished. The Michigan Department of Transportation says it hopes to reopen northbound I-275 between I-96 and I-696 by Labor Day. MDOT spokesperson Diane Cross tells WDET’s Pat Batcheller crews could work through the weekend to remove lane restrictions, though it’s customary for the state to suspend road construction during summer holiday weekends. Cross says once the freeway is open, some ramps will remain closed for at least a couple of weeks. These include the M-5 eastbound and westbound ramps. Drivers can get updates on the project from MDOT’s Revive275 web site. Click on the audio player to hear the conversation.
