GLWA lifts boil water advisory for five Detroit suburbs
Tests show the water is safe to drink.
Update 8/3/23 at 11:20 a.m.: The Great Lakes Water Authority has lifted the boil water advisory it issued for five communities after a water main broke Tuesday.
The agency says two rounds of testing show no bacterial contamination of water and residents may resume normal use in Chesterfield, Lenox and Macomb townships, as well as the village of New Haven and east Rochester.

A 36-inch water transmission line broke Tuesday morning at 24 Mile Road near North Avenue in Macomb County, causing a loss in pressure.
The regional water system says whenever a water system loses pressure for any significant length of time, it can lead to bacterial contamination.
Crews are still working on repairing the break and determining what caused it.
