More than 60,000 members will be passively enrolled by the state, meaning that they don’t have to file anything to stay enrolled.

Since the COVID-19 era, eligible residents were allowed to stay on Michigan’s Medicaid programs without proof of eligibility. But that will soon end as 3.4 million members will have their qualifications reevaluated now through May 2024.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services offices are answering questions from current beneficiaries by phone at 313-943-5200.

“We’re doing a multi-modality outreach campaign to any beneficiary who hasn’t returned their packet, whether that be because they’ve forgotten to return it, or didn’t realize they needed to do something, or perhaps didn’t receive it in the mail because of an address issue,” Nicole Hudson, senior advisor on special projects for Michigan’s health department, told MLive. “We’re doing robocalls, text messages and emails to let them know they need to take action.”
