Detroit Today: Nasser Beydoun on his run for Senate
Beydoun will take on Elissa Slotkin and Zack Burns for the Democratic nod to run for the seat Debbie Stabenow will vacate.
Democratic Congresswoman Elissa Slotkin threw her hat into the ring for Senate in late February. She hopes to fill the seat that will be vacated by Debbie Stabenow at the end of her term.
While Republican’s Nikki Snyder and Michael Hoover have announced campaigns for the position, Democratic members have been relatively quiet when it comes interest in the nomination.
That changed over the weekend, when Ann Arbor attorney and Democratic candidate Zack Burns launched his bid. And now, Nasser Beydoun, a 58-year-old restaurant owner, and former chairman and executive director of the American Arab Chamber of Commerce, is kicking off his campaign.
