“Crisis to Connection: An Imperative for Our Black Boys” is starting its campaign by hosting a community conversation this Saturday starting at 9:30 a.m. at the Focus: HOPE conference center in Detroit.
“This town hall is the first in series of discussions that will focus on issues important to the well-being of Black boys in Detroit,” said George Winn, COO for The Children’s Center, in an official statement. “It will be an engaging, interactive and community led discussion on mental health and will help guide how we reimagine and redesign the system to better serve Black boys.”
Leaders from Detroit and Wayne County will chat with mental health professors in an effort to bring tangible change to the lives of Black boys in the city. The panel of experts will include Focus: HOPE Director of Early Childhood Waymond Hayes, Michigan Chronicle digital anchor Andre Ash and National Alliance on Mental Health Executive Director Kevin Fischer.
