I-94 Closed Near Trumbull

Crews will close I-94 near Wayne State Friday night to set new support beams for the Trumbull Avenue overpass.

I-94 will be closed in both directions between I-96 and Lodge Freeway beginning Friday at 9 P-M. Crews will install new support beams for the ongoing replacement of the Trumbull Avenue overpass.

Michigan Department of Transportation spokesperson Diane Cross says the closure will last all weekend. She says detours will be posted

“The detour is to use M-10 through downtown, the Lodge. You go downtown and it kind of connects to I-75 connector back to I-96 to make your way around it. So you’re really making a big U-shape through downtown to reconnect to the other side of the freeway,” Cross says.

Cross advises drivers to plan more time for their commutes to accommodate the increased traffic heading into downtown Detroit.
