Detroit Evening Report: Detroit Black Film Fest returns this week

Film slate

The 3rd annual Detroit Black Film Festival kicked off this week. This year’s festival runs through Sunday, September 25 and will feature 86 films from 14 countries, 12 of them being made by Metro Detroit filmmakers.

The films are being shown at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, Marlene Boll Theater and the Motown Museum. The festival will highlight and showcase the stories of black independent filmmakers while offering a networking opportunity. The debut of “Film Forum,” a series of roundtable dialogues with distribution companies, professional actors, and other industry professionals will help close the weekend.
