Visions: Immanuel Wilkins, Terri Lyne Carrington, Wendell Harrison + more

Listen to “Visions” with host Kaleigh Wilder every Monday from 8-10 p.m. ET on Detroit Public Radio 101.9 WDET.

Immanuel Wilkins

On this episode of Visions, I have a lot of modern selections. With a new Blue Note record that just came out from Immanuel Wilkins, I built the episode around that modern sound. I feature music from Terri Lyne Carrington, Apifera, Don Glori, Lionel Loueke & Dave Holland, Ambrose Akinmusire, and a bit of new music discovery from Brooklyn-Berlin based bandleader, Devin Gray.

I also throw in some classic sounds for the cause. Music from Detroit’s Barry Harris, Dorothy Ashby, Wendell Harrison and Phil Ranelin hit the airwaves during this episode. Plus, I have an absolute classic from Herbie Hancock’s Sunlight as a nod to the beautiful weather we’ve been having, and a selection from Dizzy Gillespie. Happy listening!
