On this episode of Visions, I play a debut record from right here in Detroit, a couple big band selections, and music to grace Detroit’s airwaves for the first time.

Opening my show is Detroit pianist William Hill III’s debut record, Three’s Company, that dropped on all streaming platforms last Friday. A new track from esperanza spalding and Milton Nascimento hits the airwaves, as well as an artist I met recently, Mali Obomsawin. I also play my own new music discovery from artists Oran Etkin and Don Glori.

Tying it all together are classics from Thad Jones and Mel Lewis, Cannonball Adderley, Ornette Coleman, Bobby Hutcherson, Dee Dee Bridgewater and more.

Check out the playlist below and listen to the episode on-demand for two weeks after it airs using the media player above.
