A heavy focus on two of my favorite talents coming out of the city right now.
First up is Ian Fink, who is getting ready to throw his Freak Press Ball at Spotlite on 5/22. He’s premiering a new project called IANFINK.CPT (Celestial People’s Time) — a mega, 11-piece band featuring Shigeto, Supercoolwicked, Salakastar, Cjay Hill, Dez Andrés on congas, Salar Ansari on percussion, Marcus Elliot and Jake Shadik on horns, Sasha Kashperko on guitar and Marquis Johnson on drums.
I explore some of Ian’s new releases on the show. But wait — there’s even more talented cats coming out of the city including Deon Jamar, who just put out the fantastic debut “Altars” on Black Music.
