Detroit Public Radio 101.9 WDET picked up 11 Michigan Association of Broadcasters’ 2023 Broadcast Excellence Awards during a ceremony on April 6.

WDET’s Morning Edition host Pat Batcheller swept the “Best Newscast” category, winning both the top and runner-up spots. WDET also swept the “Best Musical Programming” category, with longtime Modern Music host Jon Moshier winning the award for his 2023 Halloween special — and WDET Creative Director Sam Beaubien’s interview with Detroit DJ Kyle Hall for Sam’s Jams Live receiving merit recognition.

“WDET has been telling Detroit’s most critical stories and news since 1949, so it is exciting to be honored by MAB in this anniversary year where we are celebrating our past and bringing new listener-requested programming forward,” said WDET General Manager, Mary Zatina. “These awards acknowledge WDET’s excellence in news, music and conversation and in February, we introduced even more local Detroit and music programs and hosts that showcase and complement our beloved shows and that reflect the Detroit community itself.”
