Snow on Road in Royal Oak

There were dozens of crashes reported on area roadways Friday morning as snow accumulated, causing slippery driving. conditions — especially along the Interstate 96 corridor. After the brief respite from the morning’s flurries, snow is expected to pick up again Friday evening, with some areas forecasted to accumulate another 2-4 inches.

Several Michigan counties are included in the Winter Weather Advisory, including Oakland, Macomb, Livingston, Midland, Bay, Saginaw, Tuscola, Sanilac, Shiawaseee, Genesee, Lapeer and St. Clair. Wayne County is not currently under a Winter Weather Advisory, according to the National Weather Service.

Looking ahead to Saturday and Sunday, temperatures will remain chilly but dry, with highs in the upper 30s throughout the weekend. Milder temperatures are expected to return throughout the area by Monday, with highs in the low 60s and high 50s expected, along with a few scattered showers.
