Detroit’s own Kevin Reynolds released one of the best records in 2023.

A Certain Circumstance is the debut solo project of Reynolds, a live electronic musician who has been active in the local scene and beyond for decades. And it was well worth the wait, arriving and instantly cementing itself as one of the most unique records in a crowded electronic music scene in the Motor City.

There’s a very live, in-the-room vibe with A Certain Circumstance, evoking a clear feeling that a human is working the levers inside the machine — a good reason why Reynolds describes himself as a “live electronic music composer.”
