Detroit Youth Choir mentors

The Detroit Youth Concert Choir and Performing Arts Company (DYC) serves young people of Detroit and surrounding areas, providing them with unique opportunities.

Founded in 1996, kids learn music education, dance and theatrical arts. The program serves young people ages 8-18 with an overall vision to offer world class experiences.

Currently the artistic direction of DYC is under the guidance of Anthony T. White, who has led the kids and young adults to NBC’s “America’s Got Talent” competition TV program, as well as a stint at the historic Carnegie Hall in New York City.

White and guests Michaela Hicks and Kody Chandler joined CultureShift to chat about their upcoming performances of “Once on This Island,” from playwright Lynn Ahrens and music by Stephen Flaherty. Listen to the interview using the media player above.

The shows take place June 9-11 at the HAWK Farmington Hills community center. Details can be found at detroityouthchoir.org.
