God Said Give ‘Em Drum Machines is making a return to the birthplace of Techno this Movement weekend.
Washington Hill Pictures will screen their magnum opus at the Michigan Science Center on Friday, May 26 from 7-10 p.m. The screening is sponsored by Roland and will be followed by a meet and greet with the filmmaking team. Then on Saturday, May 27, the production team will have a Documentary Filmmaking Discussion and Workshop at the Detroit Historical Museum from 1-3 p.m. The team also gathered all of the information from the documentary and created a coffee table book to accompany the film, which is available for pre-order now.
Jennifer Washington is the film’s executive producer. She joined CultureShift to talk about the more than a decade of hard work that went into capturing the groove, and what it means to bring the story back home.
“I’m very proud to say that I’m from Detroit. And when I go around the world to premiere the film, I find Detroit lovers and Techno heads all over the world who truly are inspired by the city and its music and the musicians as well.” — Jennifer Washington, producer
