The event will feature a DJ, bounce house, free food and more family-friendly activities.
The block party will officially launch the youth-led program that has been the culmination of three years of raising nearly $100,000 to renovate a vacant home that will provide young Detroiters with collective healing from everyday traumas — including housing insecurity, economic oppression, food insecurity and gun violence.
Located on the east side of Detroit near 8 Mile Rd and Gratiot, the Healing Hub helps youths age 12-21 and will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. The facility provides access to laundry, a climate controlled space and free coffee.
Additionally, there will be healing sessions, youth-led book clubs, community gardening, food pantries and more services.
The block party is located at 19510 Alcoy Ave. To learn more about Detroit Heals Detroit and the Healing Hub, go to detroithealsdetroit.org.
