Canine to Five announced they are adding a second Detroit location this spring, growing to four facilities overall.

The dog daycare and boarding company announced the new spot, located at 13208 E Jefferson Ave. inside the Riverbend Plaza, this week in an email to clients.

“I saw the need for quality pet care on the east side, including the Grosse Pointes. My comfort zone is Detroit, so it seemed like the very best place to open our fourth location,” Canine to Five founder and owner Liz Blondy told WDET.

The Riverbend Plaza facility is 8,000 square ft. and will offer daycare, boarding and baths. The company says it will hire about 20 people to staff the building.

While Blondy is hoping to open in early April, she realizes the timeline could change, especially as supply chain issues continue to linger.

“(I’m) aiming for April 3, but I have learned with construction you have to be patient and should always mentally add a few extra weeks,” Blondy says.

Canine to Five Eastside will join Ferndale, Commerce Township and the original Detroit location in Midtown. As for further expansion plans, don’t expect anything more this year, “but I would not rule it out in 2024,” Blondy shares.
