Child care

Governor Gretchen Whitmer launched a program to expand child care options for Michigan residents.

“Our Strong Start” is a program which helps new child care businesses get licensed and secure funding. It’s funded through a $1.4 billion investment to expand quality affordable care to families.

The program is part of a larger effort to create 1,000 new Michigan businesses by 2024 as part of the Caring for Mi Future strategy. “Our Strong Start” offers one-on-one assistance with a navigator to help entrepreneurs develop their businesses. It also provides current business owners with information on how to expand.
