Michigan’s U.S. Senate race in 2020 is turning into one of the most hard-fought contests in the country.

Senator Gary Peters has served one term in the chamber and has made a name for himself as ranking member of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs committee.

He’s facing Republican challenger John James, a Farmington Hills businessman and Iraq War veteran who lost his bid two years ago to unseat Senator Debbie Stabenow.
