Ed Love is a very recognizable name in the jazz scene everywhere.

I remember growing up listening to Mr. Love on the radio as a child: WCHD, WJZZ, and WDET. These are the radio stations that I remember. It was a great experience for me growing up in the music scene around Detroit.
To me, Ed has always been a jazz historian. It seems as if he had a special love for you if you played the trumpet and he heard me play the trumpet.
I met the legendary trumpeter Marcus Belgrave when I was in elementary school in the mid 60’s and we kept our friendship until his death. All the great musicians, which were part of the jazz festivals, knew Marcus and Ed Love. As a result, I met Donald Byrd, Freddie Hubbard and many other jazz greats.
Ed always made me feel very special at the Detroit jazz festivals. I was often introduced by Mr. Love and he has a way of making you feel great during such introductions.
Yes, he has a very recognizable and wonderful voice and he knows how to manipulate it! At Detroit jazz festivals, we look for Mr. Ed Love.
