Woodward Dream Cruise Officially Canceled For First Time In 26 Years
Roadside property will not be available to rent out for the annual Woodward Dream Cruise, but police are unsure how to manage unofficial activities.
This year’s edition of the Woodward Dream Cruise has been canceled by event organizers due to ongoing COVID-19 concerns.
That means no roadside property will be rented out to businesses and car clubs.

“All the cities along Woodward made the very smart and prudent decision to just not participate and not approve the special events,” says Royal Oak police chief Corrigan O’Donohue. “And it sounds like the Dream Cruise committee agrees that is the best option, to give a pause for a year.”
O’Donohue says while he is not sure what to expect from automotive enthusiasts who may attempt to gather, doing so will be discouraged.
“I don’t know that we’ve really got it figured out,” O’Donohue says. “But I’m sure that communities along Woodward are going to coordinate our efforts to make sure we’re all doing the same thing.”
The announcement marks the first time the Dream Cruise has been formally called-off in its 26 year history.
