The night before Halloween 2019, the Shinola Hotel hosted a benefit for Kirk Gibson’s Parkinson’s Foundation.

The former Detroit Tiger launched his foundation in 1996 to provide college scholarships to students, but expanded the foundation’s focus to raise money for Parkinson’s Disease after Kirk Gibson was diagnosed with the disease in 2015. Since this event took place the night before Halloween, many of the guests were dressed in costumes, including Kirk Gibson, who was dressed like artist Andy Warhol.

WDET’s Ann Delisi was armed with questions about Detroit sports and Detroit music asking the three Detroiters, all of whom played baseball during their lives in The Motor City, what their “walk up” song would be.

Alice Cooper, an avid golfer, was peppered with trivia questions about golf and playing with comedian Groucho Marx. Kirk Gibson fielded questions about Detroit music and retold the story of his famous 1984 World Series home run against pitcher, Goose Gossage. And Jack White talked about getting a hitting lesson from Kirk Gibson.
