The Detroit Medical Center is preparing for possible cases of coronavirus.

DMC officials say the hospital has turned five rooms into negative pressure rooms. These work to circulate and filter air in and out of the rooms.

“Our staff is ready. We have policies and procedures in place to receive the patient.” – Teena Chopra, Detroit Medical Center

“We have been preparing ourselves at DMC for the last several years since Ebola. Now that we have the coronavirus outbreak, we’ve been making sure that our staff is ready,” says Teena Chopra, Director of Infection Prevention at the DMC. “We have policies and procedures in place to receive the patient.”

Chopra says the most important thing to remember is to wash your hands often. Currently Michigan has no confirmed cases of coronavirus.

President Donald Trump is scheduled to address the nation on the coronavirus outbreak at 6:30 pm ET.
