Yum Village Brings Afro-Caribbean Flavors to Batch Brewing Company’s Roster of Craft Beers
As the city’s New Center neighborhood sees new development, a duo of local businesses, Afro-Caribbean restaurant Yum Village and local craft beer brewery Batch Brewing Company, are swapping recipes and customers.
A pair of small businesses in the city’s New Center neighborhood are teaming up to not only support one another — but also trade recipes.
While Batch Brewing Company has their flagship taproom in Corktown, they’ve been quietly packaging and brewing product in a new location in New Center not far from Yum Village, the food truck-turned-brick and mortar restaurant at the intersection of Woodward and Milwaukee.
The partnership means you can sip a “Letter From Jamaica” rye pineapple pale ale beer at Batch Brewing inspired by the Afro-Caribbean flavors of Yum Village chef and owner Godwin Ihentuge, who in return has created a spicy jerk chicken pasty and a mango curry sauce for Batch’s arancini.
For the rest of the month of November, patrons of both businesses can bring a receipt from one restaurant to the other and get 10 percent off their meal.
