School Closings for Nov. 12, 2019

Record snowfall shuts schools in Detroit and many suburbs.

Detroit Public Schools

Classes are canceled Tuesday, Nov.. 12, 2019 in several southeast Michigan school districts because of the record-setting snowstorm on Veterans Day. The National Weather Service recorded 8.5 inches of snow at Metro Airport, breaking the previous Veterans Day record of 4.1 inches set in 1984. It was also the snowiest November day on record, surpassing the 6.2 inches that fell on Nov. 15, 1925.

The following school districts are closed:

Wayne County

All public schools EXCEPT Grosse Pointe

Oakland County

All public schools

Macomb County

All public schools 

Livingston County

All public schools

Washtenaw County

All public schools

St. Clair County

All public schools

Lapeer County

All public schools

Monroe County

All public schools
