For the 42nd Dally in the Alley, Thank a Volunteer
Detroit’s biggest neighborhood block party takes over the Cass Corridor this Saturday. It’s all-volunteer force and community support that keeps it coming back.
Dally in the Alley, now in its 42nd year, is just that kind of party.
The free and family-friendly annual event is a melting pot of the city and a celebration of the Cass Corridor, now commonly known as Midtown, neighborhood.
Taking place this Saturday, Sept. 7, Dally is a communal gem that takes pride in its free-spirit and blissful vibe, artsy experiences, visual expressions and music performances that take shape from alleyway stages to the porch and decks of neighborhood apartments and homes.

“It’s a block party on steroids,” says Adriel Thornton, co-producer of Dally in the Alley for nearly 10 years. “It celebrates the community and we try really hard to make sure the people who are involved in it – whether it be vendors or performers – are connected to the neighborhood.”
The festival is sponsored by the North Cass Community Unit and utilizes hundreds of volunteers to keep the day moving smoothly.
