Ann Delisi Previews Concerts of Colors, Motown Anniversary

Back when the Concert of Colors was first established, the event was only for one day. Now in 2019, it is nine days long.

Back when the Concert of Colors was first established, the event was only for one day. Now in 2019, it is nine days long, and kicks off tonight with a lineup of performers.

In this special episode of Detroit Today, WDET’s Ann Delisi fills in for host Stephen Henderson and previews the festival. Joining Ann is:

Don Was, President of Blue Note Records and legendary producer, who has worked with artists including Bonnie Raitt, the Rolling Stones and The B-52s, and;

Ismael Ahmed, host of WDET’s This Island Earth, who was one of the founders of the Concert of Colors back in 1993.

Ahmed and the Earth Island Drummers will perform at this year’s festival, in addition to Lana Mini and her dancers and Will Sessions with special guest Dames Brown. There’s dozens of other performances happening in the following days as well.
