Detroit-based artist, rapper and producer Sheefy McFly has had a busy 2019 so far.

He’s already released two musical projects—Jittin’ Ain’t Deadan EP that feels like an homage to Detroit’s techno history; and 7tWINty, an EP that sounds more like its future.

WDET’s Ryan Patrick Hooper speaks with McFly about his new music and ghettotech–a particular style of music that blends the city’s distinct hip hop and techno sound.

“A lot of the ghettotech tracks’ll be like old techno tracks just sped up,” explains McFly. “It’s like a mesh of funk, hip hop, techno, and just like, Detroit-ness.”
