Each week, Detroit News reporter Melody Baetens gives us a seat at the table at the latest restaurant or dining trend in metro Detroit. This week, Baetens previews the many food festivals happening around Detroit this spring and summer. First up is this weekend’s Bacon Bash in Livonia.

“(Last year’s Bacon Bash) was packed,” says Baetens, who was a judge during last year’s event.

“Basically, it’s any restaurant, caterer—anyone that has a good bacon dish or wants to showcase their bacon skills can come out and give out samples. There’s also a contest element. It’s a legitimate food competition and it’s also fun for people just to go—if you like bacon, of course.”
