The 2019 WDET Munch Madness bracket has begun. This year, it’s all about tacos.

We quickly realized that food is a very personal thing. It represents who we are and where we come from.

A restaurant review might say how good the food is, but a personal recommendation from someone who has lived in the neighborhood that the food represents is something you just can’t replace with a Yelp review.

Southwest Detroit is well represented in this year’s WDET Munch Madness bracket, so we spoke with Juan Carlos Dueweke-Perez—a longtime local and owner of Featherstone Moments, a marketing agency that works primarily with women and people of color—about some of his favorite restaurants and food-related memories from growing up in southwest Detroit.

Dueweke-Perez is also one of the founders of Southwest Detroit Restaurant Week.
