It’s been 50 years since the legendary rock music magazine, Creem, emerged from Detroit’s Cass Corridor and shook things up. This documentary tells the story of its founder, Barry Kramer, the writers and the musicians they wrote about

Creem

Ann Delisi talks with music journalist and one-time editor-in-chief at Creem Magazine, Susan Whitall, and the documentary’s producer JJ Kramer who is the son of Creem founder, Barry Kramer, and was 4 years old when his father passed away. This documentary was a way for him to connect with the father he barely knew. Susan Whitall gives us a peek into what it was like to work at Creem, what made this Detroit magazine different than Rolling Stone and other competitors, and what it was like to be a woman working in that truly wild and crazy place.
